My Town |
 |
This collection of essays on the History of
Reepham is the Society's most recent publication. The author,
Wesley Piercy, was born in Reepham and, apart from his war
service, has spent all of his life in the town. He gained
an Open University degree in History at the age of 77 and his
vast knowledge of local history has been much appreciated by
professional historians.
To celebrate his 90th birthday, the Reepham
Society published this collection of essays about Reepham
in 2007. The collection has been compiled by Joyce Cox
with inspiration and help from our former chairman Kate
Nightingale.
Copies, price £5.00, may be obtained from
Very Nice Things opposite the Post Office. Or by post
from Ian Boldero at
The Laurels,
Station Road, Reepham, NR10 4LA.
Cheques should be made payable to The Reepham Society.
Please add 90p for postage and packing.

Harry
Hawes' Walk, The Heart of a Norfolk Market Town: edited by
Kate Nightingale
|
 |
This publication was
issued to accompany the September 2003 History Exhibition on Reepham Market Place. The booklet comprises 32 pages including
22 coloured illustrations. It can be used as a guide for a walk
around the centre of the town, or just read as a history of
(mainly) two centuries of a Norfolk Market Town. Harry Hawes,
the guide to this wander through Reepham, was born in 1863 in a
cottage in Church Hill. He and his ancestors appeared regularly
in Reepham records. The booklet includes direct quotations
from Harry's account of each building in the centre of Reepham
as it was at the time of which he was writing, during his
childhood. Kate uses his account as the basis of her history.
Copies, price £3.00, may be obtained from
Very Nice Things in the Market Place.

The Reepham
Town Band (now Matthews Norfolk Brass). A tribute by Joyce
Cox
|
 |
Published in May
2002, this booklet is in the usual form, it comprises 16 pages
containing 24 illustrations. The booklet is a tribute to the
Band, covering half a century of commitment and success. Local
enthusiasts, supported by their families, created in the small
Market Town of Reepham a brass band that became demonstrably the
best of its type in East Anglia - an amazing feat. Its stature
was recognised by, for example, the award of prizes at annual
Crystal Palace national competitions, national radio broadcasts,
ENSA entertainments during the 1939-1945 war and, as the cover
opposite illustrates, a Reepham held royal performance.
The Reepham Town
Band is now known as Matthews Norfolk Brass. This band maintains
the very high standards set by its originator.
Copies, price £2.50, may be obtained from Very
Nice Things in the Market Place.
